ADA Compliant Bathroom
The Americans with Disabilities Act was a landmark achievement for the United States, and it marked a new era of consideration for construction and plumbing remodeling. However, because there are no laws governing private residences, homes may still have outdated or inaccessible bathrooms!
All County Plumbing understands how important it is to have a comfortable and accessible bathroom, which is why we offer ADA compliant bathrooms. Whether you’re building a new home or remodeling an older bathroom, we can help!
What is an ADA Compliant Bathroom?
We apply the same requirements of the law with our residential bathroom builds, including:
- Grab Bars:
- Fully anchored
- Smooth surface
- 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inches in diameter
- Between 34 and 38 inches above the floor
- Separation between the grab bar and the wall surface of at least 1 1/2 inches
- Wheelchair Rotating Space:
- A clear floor space of at least 60 inches in diameter
- Toilet:
- Clear space around the toilet with minimum dimensions of 30 by 48 inches, forward or parallel approach to the toilet
In addition to these guidelines, we also install walk-in showers and bathtubs.
Walk In Shower Installation
A walk-in shower is one that has either space for a wheelchair (a roll-in shower), or a completely flat edge to allow easy accessibility. When we install a walk-in shower, you’ll be able to choose the color and design, allowing the shower to fit your personal decor. We’ll also completely remove the old shower, fitting your current plumbing to your new, accessible shower!
Walk In Tub Installation
A walk in tub can be made in two ways: a tub cut out can be installed, allow you to walk into a shower/tub combo. A walk in tub can also be a bathtub with a sealable door. You’ll be able to walk into the tub, close the waterproof door, fill the bathtub, and then enjoy your comfortable bath!
Walk in tubs with doors typically come with a built-in seat, so you won’t have to worry about sliding or shifting in the water. Walk in tubs typically come with additional features as well, like hot water jets.
ADA Accessible Bathrooms
At All County Plumbing, we believe in building custom bathrooms for each and every one of our clients. We also believe in building bathrooms that last for decades and beyond–bathrooms that can still be accessible, whether you’re eight or eighty!
